ANOTHER RUN WITH THE PURPLE PHOTOS

Analog photography is experiencing a resurgence in popularity, and medium format cameras like the Yashica Mat 124G are easy to find, to shoot with and it’s quite affordable (at least compared to Pentax, Bronica, etc). One film that is really fun to shoot with from time to time is the Lomochrome Purple. This unique film, developed by Lomography, is known for its dreamy, purple and blue colors. I recently shot my second roll of this film, and again… the results are mixed!

Shooting with a medium format camera like the Yashica Mat 124G and Lomochrome Purple film is a truly special experience. The larger negative size of the medium format film allows for incredible detail and depth in your images. The Lomochrome Purple film adds a unique, otherworldly quality to your photos, making them truly stand out. As explained on Lomography's site:

“watch as blue becomes green, green becomes purple and yellow becomes pink.”

If you're located in Denmark and looking to get into analog photography, consider picking up a Yashica Mat 124G and some Lomochrome Purple film. Not only will you be able to produce stunning, one-of-a-kind images, but you will also get a chance to get new experiences with the some times underwhelming landscapes (in comparison with other countries). The first shot is one that I really like. Shot on a rainy day in Grenå, and I think the vibe is just really cool.

I find it quite difficult to shoot landscapes without a clear subject with this film. Everything seem to blend together. Like this one from Rebild Bakker. It’s quite alright, I guess, but not what I had in mind.

Portraits on the other hand is quite exciting. Or just living subjects, actually. I just have to fine tune the composition, and I think the results might become really intersting. I’m not totally confident about the skintones, but I’ll focus on this when shooting the next roll of Lomochrome Purple (it’s calling me from within the fridge).

Last but not least, I just quickly want to show you two examples with another kind of subject. Sine Lomography think the film is cool for flower photography I thought that I would give it a try. And then I shot another picture of every film photographer’s favourite subject: the gas station.

In short, if you're interested in analog photography, a medium format camera like the Yashica Mat 124G paired with Lomochrome Purple film is a fantastic choice.
