SECOND ROLL OF CINESTILL

RECENLTY I FINISHED OFF YET ANOTHER ROLL OF THE ICONIC CINESTILL 800. THIS TIME ON MY NIKON FE2 - AND I LOVED IT!

So my first roll of cinestill 800, which I’ve been wanting to shoot for so many years, was shot on my medium format camera, Yashica 124 Mat-G, and even though I really love the 6x6 format it was just something else shooting it at 35mm. I took my camera out on several nights, forgetting my release cable on several occasions (I don’t recommend this) and ended up with some quite cool shots actually.

I really think that the urban setting compliments this type of film and my quiet hometown was suddenly full of possible cinematic shots like this one of a car near some bright LED signs. Really like this one. Of course I had to take my car and drive to some gas stations. Just because.. You know..

As I mentioned I forgot my release cable several times, so I had to do some work arounds in terms of exposing correctly to deal with the reciprocity failure. A lot of my light readings gave me an exposure time of 6-10 seconds but the Nikon FE2 doesn’t supply all of these on the shutter-dial (not that a lot of other cameras do) so I had to expose for something around those values and hope for the best. The results were actually quite good. Looks like over exposing a bit is better than under exposing. Let me know if I’m wrong.

Shot in Frederikshavn by night.

Last but not least I had to shoot the rest of the roll at work. Since I work as a photographer at ARoS Art Museum it was quite the opportunity to get some exclusive shots of the art work while wandering around the galleries before the guests would arrive. Shot the iconic “Boy” by Ron Mueck and this other art work “Welcome”, both really cool and with cool Cinestill vibes.

I still have one roll of film left in the fridge… Going to shoot it soon, but hopefully next time I won’t end up with a lot of shots looking like the following (even though it shows some kind of coolness):
